A question many women have is whether its better for them to take [tag-tec supplements ]supplemental[/tag-tec] tablets to get their daily supply of calcium or to get it more naturally from foods. Well while the research is still not definitive, preliminary test by researchers at Washington University School of Medicine suggests that calcium taken in by a traditional food source or milk is better for women, probably due to the easier absorption
Calcium-rich foods better for women's bone density than supplements
Women who got most of their calcium from foods had healthier bones and their bone density was also higher . Dairy foods and calcium-fortified orange juice are excellent sources of calcium. Dark green leafy vegetables also contain calcium, though researchers note it is not as readily absorbed as calcium from dairy.
This isn't to slight the importance or deny the positives of taking [tag-cat womens health ]supplements[/tag-cat] just that if women can it's always a good idea to try to take in as much of their daily calcium requirements via normal food intake as possible and rely on supplements as a complimentary substance to a healthy diet.
